Tips for parents

  • Look for camps that group middle schoolers separately from younger kids.
  • Skill-focused camps (coding, music, sports) usually keep this age engaged best.
  • Check whether the camp has an older-kid or leader-in-training track.

Common questions

Are 12-year-olds too old for day camp?

Many day camps go up to age 12, but kids at the top of the range sometimes prefer specialty camps with peers their own age.

How much do camps for ages 11–12 cost?

Among the 40 camps for ages 11–12 we list with published prices, weekly prices start at $100 and go up to about $1,749 (2026 and 2027 prices). Full-day, extended care and member rates vary, so check each camp’s page for details.

When does registration open for camps for ages 11–12?

None of these camps have announced their next registration date yet. Most post summer dates in January or February, and popular weeks fill quickly. Sign up for registration alerts so you don’t miss opening day.
